Pocket PC Software Overview

The Network LifeSaver Pocket PC software allows you to use any Windows Pocket PC 2002 device to communicate with your Network LifeSavers.

Partnered with the Network LifeSaver x8, your wireless Pocket PC-capable device becomes an invaluable tool, giving you continuous access to your network with the ability to restart servers or automatically cut the AC power to any of eight different devices should a problem arise. It improves your productivity and interfaces with existing systems while it allows you to manage your networks while you're away from the office. Whenever Network Lifesaver senses a failure, you will be instantly notified by email and will be able to correct the problem quickly.

Once you have your Network LifeSavers running and your Control Room Monitoring System built, you can sit back and stop worrying about your network's health. Leave the office and know that you can securely control your networks using your wireless Pocket PC device. The Network LifeSaver uses its own hardware-based encryption communication system to ensure that only you can access them remotely.

Control all of your Network LifeSavers with one device. Using the stylus to select the options at the bottom of the screen, you can add additional Network LifeSavers, edit ones you already have configured, or open one to see the details of all the devices connected to that particular Network LifeSaver. Simply use the stylus to select one of your Network LifeSavers or click "New" to add another one.

Adding a new Network LifeSaver is easy. Choose "New" and simply enter a name, the IP Address, Admin Port and Admin Password (password is set-up with NLS Client software) and your Pocket PC software is set up. Click "OK" once you have finished.

The main control screen will list all of the devices you have connected to any Network LifeSaver. The Network column will show the status, the Memory column displays the memory usage, and the Power column shows the current power setting. Using the stylus, select any of your devices and then use the options under the table to see the details or make changes for that device.

Choosing "Detail" will display all of the tests you currently have running for that particular device. The tests are set up in the Test Designer (see Application Software demo for more information) and will be highlighted in red if a failure has occurred, letting you know immediately that there is a problem with your network. Clicking "Refresh" will automatically update the information for the tests.

Choosing "Control" will allow you to restart, shutdown or cycle the power to any of the devices. Simply choose the option and click on "Done." Having the power to restart servers and cut the AC power will give you the freedom to leave the office without worrying about your network.
