NOTE: When purchasing from this site, you must enter as a "new customer to the cart" even if you are an existing JAC merchant.  Because you are shopping our new JAC 6 cart, you must create a new customer account with our company.

JustAddCommerce 6 is a new platform JAC and requires a completely new installation of the program. To upgrade from your current version of JAC to the new JAC 6, follow the steps below:

For suggestions on how to manage your account with multiple keys, please see this page.

IMPORTANT: We suggest that you keep at least one backup copy of your current JAC site and create a new copy to modify for the JAC 6.0.  Once you have made all of the upgrade changes this will then become your new site. It is very important that you back up your site.  If you do not back your site up and something goes wrong with the installation process, the information on your original site will be lost.  (Note: Your existing live site can be one of the backup copies, but please make sure you have at least one other copy when you replace it with your new JAC 6.0 site.)

  • Open the copy of your web site and remove the existing JustAddCommerce buttons.
  • Install JustAddCommerce 6 per installation instructions: (Use your Installation document showing how to install JAC 6)
  • Once JAC 6 is installed, begin the process with the Application Settings per Help files.
  • Continue in Settings section to set up CSS Styles, Payment, Shipping, Tax, Discounts, and Order Email settings.
  • Next, set up headers and footers in Shopping Cart, Checkout Form, Confirmation Page, Order Status, and Invoice sections.

Now you are ready to add JAC 6 purchase buttons to your site.
Note that there are two ways to do this:

  1. Use the JAC 6 plug-in for FrontPage or Dreamweaver
  2. Manually add the placeholder to your page

To use the JAC 6 plug-in for FrontPage or Dreamweaver:

  • Open the JAC 6 program and click on the Settings icon at the top
  • In the General Settings panel, select the HTML Editors option
  • Click on the Install button that corresponds to the editor that you are using (FrontPage or Dreamweaver). The plug-in is compatible with all versions of these two editors.
  • Once installed, the plug-in will appear in your editor. In FrontPage, it will appear in the menu at the top of the screen, much like the plug-in for JAC 5. In Dreamweaver, the plug-in will appear in your tabs or drop-down, just like the JAC 5 plug-in.
  • Place your cursor on the page where you would like the purchase button, view cart button, or order status area to appear.
  • Access the JAC 6 plug-in and select the placeholder that you would like to add to the page. You will be asked to enter a tag, or description, for this placeholder. This tag will need to be short, yet specific, as you will need to be able to identify this button by the name. We suggest that you avoid giving the same tag to more than one button. A good idea would be to use the SKU number for the tag.
  • Click OK to insert the placeholder. When you have added all of the placeholders, save the page.

To manually add the Placeholders to your pages:

  • In your web editor, place your cursor on the page where you would the purchase button, view cart button, or order status area to appear.
    - To add a purchase button placeholder, you will need to type: [JACPurchaseButton-Description]
    - To add a View Cart button placeholder, you will need to type: [JACViewCartButton-Description]
    - To add an order status area placeholder, you will need to type: [JACOrderStatusArea-Description]
  • Replace Description with a tag, or short description, for this placeholder (Example: [JACPurchaseButton-Athletic Shoes]) . This tag will need to be short, yet specific, as you will need to be able to identify this button by the name. We suggest that you avoid giving the same tag to more than one button. A good idea would be to use the SKU number for the tag.
  • When you have added all of the placeholders, save the page.

Once you have added your placeholders, you can open your web pages in the JustAddCommerce program to edit the button's details.
