Ship by Rate Calculation

The Ship by Rate Calculation method will calculate the shipping charge based on the order's total weight, total items purchased or total amount. This also allows for a base rate charge to be added.

By Weight

When this radio button is selected, your customers' shipping charges will be calculated by the total weight of their purchases. Enter an amount that will be charged per every pound (or kilogram) and enter a base rate that will be charged on every order as well. If you would like, you may also set a minimum charge.

By Quantity

When this radio button is selected, your customers' shipping charges will be calculated by the total number of products ordered. Enter an amount that will be charged per every unit ordered and enter a base rate that will be charged on every order as well. If you would like, you may also set a minimum charge.

By Order Total

When this radio button is selected, your customers' shipping charges will be calculated by the total monetary amount of the order. Enter an amount that will be charged per every dollar (or whatever currency symbol you are using) and enter a base rate that will be charged on every order as well. If you would like, you may also set a minimum charge.

Shipping Message

Enter a short, descriptive message that will appear next to the shipping charge line item in the shopping cart display. For example, "Shipping Charges Automatically Calculated."

Ship by Multiple Base Rate Calculation

The Ship by Multiple Base Rate Calculation method allows your customer to select a shipping method, each with different base rates, from your preset list.  Shipping is then calculated from the selected base rate plus the rate charge based on the order's total weight, total items purchased or total amount.

Ship by UPS Online® Rates

The Ship by UPS Online® Rates & Service Selection Tool enables your site to connect directly to UPS servers to obtain accurate shipping rates based on the total weight of the order, the customer's postal code and shipping method the customer selects. The charge is then added to the order total.

Please note: JAC simply connects your account to the UPS tool and does not have any control or influence over the shipping prices that UPS designates. The shipping rates that UPS returns are based off many factors. The UPS Interface that JAC connects to determines the rates based off of the "Residential location" setting, as well as how you get your package to UPS and if you have a UPS account or not. These factors make a big difference in your shipping rates. Please keep in mind that the rates are estimated and that other charges may apply. Because of this we recommend that you use the "Additional Cost" feature to cover your shipping costs.

Please note:

  • When entering the zip code for a US State, only enter the 5 digit zip code. UPS will not be able to calculate the shipping charge if you enter the 5 digit zip code + 4.

  • When entering the postal code for Canada or other countries outside the United States, you must enter all the postal codes together (with no spaces between each number). If spaces are entered between numbers, UPS will not be able to calculate the shipping charge

UPS Weight Error

Error: The maximum per package weight for that service from the selected country is 150 pounds.

UPS will only ship a total of 150 lbs. Because JAC does not know how your items will be packaged it combines the total order weight not the individual packaged weight. If you have a lot of heavy items you might want to reconsider using the UPS option as your shipping option.   If all the items purchased combine a total weight over 150 lbs. the customer will not be able to complete the order.

Free Shipping

JustAddCommerce allows you to ship certain items for free if you use either the Rate Calculation or Single Rate Chart shipping settings. For the Free shipping option to work, the shipping has to be automatically calculated for your customer without their choosing any shipping options (Ex. Standard vs. Overnight Shipping), therefore the other shipping options—User Choice, Multiple Rate Calculation, Multiple Rate Chart and UPS Online®—will override the Free Shipping option for your site.

Please note:If any additional charges are added, such as base rate, handling fees, or insurance, those charges will be added to the order automatically—Free Shipping will not override those charges.

To add Free Shipping to your product:

  1. Launch JustAddCommerce in your editor.

  2. Click on the "Purchase Button" icon.

  3. In the first screen you will find the "Free Shipping" checkbox. Click this box to activate the "Free Shipping" option.

  4. Continue adding the necessary information in the "Puchase Button" screen.

  5. Click "OK".

  6. Save and upload your page to your host server.
