JustAddCommerce Shopping Cart Configuration

How to customize the look of your Shopping Cart page

The Shopping Cart is displayed to your customer after an item has been clicked on and added to the Shopping Cart. You are able to customize this page by adding your own header graphic, your own "Continue Shopping," "Recalculate," and "Order Checkout" buttons, as well as a footer (See some sample buttons). Customizing this page, by adding your company information or logo, will keep the look continuous throughout the customers' shopping experience. (This feature is only available with JAC 5.0.)

To see an example of this, visit our Sample Store and click on any of the purchase buttons.

Please Note: Changing the colors of the shopping cart is found under the JAC Options section of the JAC program.

To change the look of your shopping cart, go to your admin page and click on the Shopping Cart link under Store Settings:

(Use this link to go to the admin page and then enter your serial number and password.)

The following fields will appear:

Shopping Cart Header HTML: Enter text or a graphic in this field. The information entered in this field MUST be in HTML format, but cannot contain any <BODY> or <HTML> tags. It is a good idea to keep the header concise to limit the amount of information that appears. You will not want to confuse the customer with too much information on this page.

Other requirements:

  • If you use a table, do not set the alignment to left (align="left") because this will push the buttons and item totals to the right side of the page. Just leave the alignment at the default setting, with no code specifying it.

  • If you want to use a style sheet, copy and paste the style code (i.e. <style type="text/css"> ... </style>) at the beginning of your HTML. You only need to include it in the header as the styles will also affect the text in the footer.

  • If you do not want to use style sheets, you must be sure that your text is formatted with HTML that specifies the font, size, color, etc. (i.e. <font face="Verdana" size="1" color="#FF00FF">text</font>). If you are using Dreamweaver to create the code, it will automatically create a new style each time you change the text, and it simply add a style tag to that text. If you do not include the style code at the beginning, your text will not be formatted correctly.

  • Any images and links must be coded with the absolute URL address (i.e. http://www.yoursite/...).

  • If you want your tables to align with the other tables on the page, set the width of the table to 96% and the left margin to 5 pixels, like this: <table width="96%" border="0" cellpadding="0" leftmargin="5">

Continue Shopping Button URL: Enter the URL of the pathway to the graphics you want to use as your Continue Shopping Button. If you want to use the standard buttons that JAC inserts, keep this field blank. Make sure you enter the URL as http:// ... The default size of these buttons is 180x30 pixels. We do not recommend going over that size.

Note on designing your buttons: If you have the background of the page set to a color other than white, you will notice a white background around your buttons if you save them as jpegs and they are not cropped exactly to the edges. If you save your images as gifs, you can save them with a transparency, however you may still see a bit of a white halo around the image. The best solutions are to either create buttons that are rectangle and then crop the images exactly to the edges, or create buttons with the same background color that you plan to use on the page.

For sample buttons that you can use on your site, go to our resource page and click on the buttons link.

Recalculate Order Button URL: Enter the URL of the pathway to the graphics you want to use as your Recalculate Button. If you want to use the standard buttons that JAC inserts, keep this field blank. Make sure you enter the URL as http:// ... The default size of these buttons is 180x30 pixels. We do not recommend going over that size.

Order Checkout Button URL: Enter the URL of the pathway to the graphics you want to use as your Order Checkout Button. If you want to use the standard buttons that JAC inserts, keep this field blank. Make sure you enter the URL as http:// ... The default size of these buttons is 180x30 pixels. We do not recommend going over that size.

Order Delete Button URL: Enter the URL of the pathway to the graphics you want to use as your Order Delete Button. If you want to use the standard buttons that JAC inserts, keep this field blank. Make sure you enter the URL as http:// ... The default size of these buttons is 18x60 pixels. We do not recommend going over that size. Also, you need to include the word "delete," in your graphic, like below:

Shopping Cart Footer HTML: Enter text or a graphic in this field. The information entered in this field MUST be in HTML format, but cannot contain any <BODY> or <HTML> tags. It is a good idea to keep the footer concise to limit the amount of information that appears. You will not want to confuse the customer with too much information on this page.
